Jason’s Walk was created as a compliment to our beneficiary the United Cerebral Palsy of Metro Detroit and a tribute to Jason Koller who is disabled with Cerebral Palsy.
Race Director, Gina, (pictured above with Jason) has known Jason for the past 27 years. She met Jason through her friendship with his mom, Gloria Koller. Gloria's determined personality gave Jason the strength he needed to succeed in life and to be able to function nearly independently with his disability.
Jason has been walking in this event since 2003. The course for the walk is about 50 yards and Jason has improved his finish time each year. Michael Rutka would have been right up front cheering Jason on when we began this event in 2003, and we hope that you will join in Michael’s spirit each year to cheer Jason and other individuals with handicaps to walk in JASON's WALK.
There is no charge for participants in the "Jason's Walk". All participants in "Jason's Walk" receive a unique ceramic award ceated by Stan Baker.
